The solo and sight-reading does not need to be performed from memory. These items music be "passed-off" for their band director in order to complete the registration process for all-county band. Students must correctly pass off their scales and solo on or before October 11, 2019.
Auditions for the Forsyth All-County Band will be held on Monday, October 21st from 4-7pm at Meadowlark Middle School. Parents can pick their child up from Meadowlark once they finish their audition.
The student's audition results will be sorted and those earning the highest scores will be placed into the all-county symphonic band and the next highest scores placed into all-county concert band. Most students that prepare the audition material and participate in the auditions qualify for membership in one of the two honors ensembles.
The students that qualify for membership in one of the two honor bands attend the all-county rehearsal clinic which lasts for two days, November 22nd & 23rd, 2019. The Friday rehearsal will run from 8:30am to 4:30pm. The schedule for Saturday includes a morning rehearsal from 9:00am-12:00pm and the all-county clinic concludes with a concert held in the R.J. Reynolds High School Auditorium at 6:00pm.
Last year Meadowlark had 46 students qualify for membership in the all-county bands. Two students earned the highest audition scores from anyone in the county on their instrument meaning that they are the best middle school musician on their instrument in the county. Way to go Mustangs!!!
