The flexible schedule model allows for students and teachers to use media center resources at point of need rather than on a rotating schedule. Students can check out books as often as needed, and teachers can use the media center with their classes as needed. This model is consistent with the American Association of School Librarians recommendations, and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Impact model.
    1. 2-3 students per class may come to the media center with a hall pass 7:50 a.m.-3:00 p.m. for book checkout. Upon checking out, students are asked to return to class and not to wait for other students to minimize missed instructional time.
    2. Teachers may schedule a time to bring their whole class for checkout, research, book talks, and more. To ensure the visit is purposeful and collaborative, the teacher remains with the class.
    3. With a flexible schedule, the sky is the limit. See Mrs. Turney to talk about more ways to take advantage of this wonderful scheduling option.
