Have an occasion you'd like to celebrate in your child's class? Looking to bring a snack? Let's try to provide healthier food options for students whenever possible.Action for Healthy Kids and Alliance for a Healthier Generation have lists of healthy snack ideas. Parents should read labels and be aware of the amount of calories per portion, portion size, and servings per package. Some of the items on these lists may not be suitable for consumption in the classroom, so please check with your child's teacher before sending anything in to school. You can also find additional Healthy Ideas, put together by Indiana Action for Healthy Kids, to find alternatives for snacks, lunches, rewards, and fundraisers that won't pack in the calories. Be sure to check out their family activity ideas as well! This presentation was previously shared with K-8 principals in WS/FCS so they can help support the wellness policy implementation in their schools.
