EF Football Current EventsDecember 15, 2018The Eagles claimed their 2nd State Title in school history with a 35-28 victory over Scotland County. The Eagles finished the season with a perfect record 15-0 out scoring opponents 646-199.October 20, 2017With the Eagle victory over Reagan, Coach Willert became the winningest football coach in East Forsyth Football History. He surpassed Perry Pearson with 117 career wins. In Coach Willert's 15 years as head coach he has averaged 8 wins a year, won 6 conference titles, made the state playoffs 12 years, won numerous coach of the year awards, and sent more than 100 players to play at the next level.September 2015Former EFHS Standout, Chris Blair,Taking the weight at Elon.Read the Article.February, 2014Eagles Jason Nieradka and Zach Duncan sign for college play. Jason will be playing with the Brevard College Tornado's and Zach will be playing for the Charlotte University 49ers.March, 2012
February, 2013On Wednesday, March 27th, 2013 two Eagle football players signed their letters of intent to play Division II and Division III college football next fall. Running back DeAnthony Neal signed to play for the Limestone College Saints, Limestone (a Division II school) is located in Gaffeney South Carolina and will be starting their inaugural football season in the fall and will be led by head coach Bobby James. Neal played for four years at East Forsyth and was a two year starter on varsity helping the Eagles to back to back Peidmont Triad 4A Conference championships. During this time he racked up a Peidmont Triad 4A All-Conference, All Forsyth County, All Purpose and Team MVP honors. Singing to play for the division III Methodist College Monarchs in the fall is offensive lineman Cody Wilson, Wilson played for four years at East and was a two year starter on varsity also helping the Eagles to back to back Peidmont Triad 4A Conference championships. Wilson also earned All Forsyth County honors. Congratulations to Cody and DeAnthony on their signings and we thank them for their dedication to the East Football program over the past four years and we wish them the best of luck in college, on the field and in the classroom over the next four years.On Wednesday Febuary 6th 2013 seven East Forsyth High School football players signed their national letters of intent on national signing day. Among the seven players that signed were Garrison Duncan,Chris Blair,Austin Richardson,Savon Richardson,Quincy Wilson,Paul Jones and Brandon Smith. Duncan,a quarterback signed to play for Delaware State,this past season Duncan was named to the NC Preps 4A all-state team all-Northwest team and all-area team. Duncan was also named Peidmont Triad 4A conference player of the year and Forsyth County player of the year. Signing to play for the Cardinals of Ball State was Chris Blair,Blair who was a member of the 2012 North Carolina Shrine Bowl team was named to the NC Preps 4A all-state team,all Northwest team,all-area team and the Peidmont Triad 4A conference defensive player of the year. Paul Jones,a wide receiver for the Eagles committed to play for Concord University,Jones was named to the Peidmont Triad 4A all conference team for 2012. Two Eagles went on to sign to play for the Panthers of Ferrum College,defensive lineman Savon Richardson was named to the Peidmont Triad 4A all conference team and quarterback Quincy Wilson,who was a back up quarterback for East both signed with the Panthers. Signing to play for the Fighting Phonix of Elon University was tight end Austin Richardson,Richardson was injured this past summer tearing his ACL before the season began,instead of having surgery and missing his senior season,Richardson opted to switch from tight end to the offensive line and help his team the best he could,as a result Richardson was named to the Peidmont Triad 4A all conference team for the third consecutive year. Last but not least is offensive lineman Brandon Smith,Smith was named to the NC preps 4A all-state team,(AP) all-state team,all-Northwest team,all-area team,all Forsyth County team and the Peidmont Triad 4A all conference team. Smith will attend and play for the Pirates of East Carolina University next fall. Congratulations to these seven young men and we wish them continued success on and off the field for the next four years and for many years to come.Two more Eagles, Chris Rogers and Zach "Smitty" Price will be heading off to hit the gridiron for college teams. Rogers will attend Ferrum College in Ferrum, VA and Price will attend Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA. Both young men were defensive stand-outs on the Eagle roster, and they are sure to be at their new alma mater. Best of luck to each of these young men on their new journey."In Memory"Thoughts and Prayers from all of the Eagle football team and coaches past and present go out to the family and friends of former Eagle player Cameron Girffin who passed away on February 5th. His passing is a tragic one and he will be missed by all. Cameron was an outstanding young man and a great contributor to the Eagle Football Program during his years at East."February 7th: Kicker, Chad Hollandsworth, Signs with Catawba College"On Tuesday, Chad Hollandsworth signed with the Catawba College Indians in Salisbury, North Carolina. Best of luck to Chad on his continued success."February 6th: Amon Giles Signs with Louisburg College"Louisburg College in Louisburg North Carolina signed Amon Giles. Giles will leave the Eagle nest and become a Hurricane in the fall. Best of luck to Amon as he moves ahead on the gridiron."February 1st: Jalen Day Signs with the Howard BisonDefensive play maker, Jalen Day signed a letter of committment to attend Howard University in Washington, DC, home of the Bison. Best of luck to Jalen as he moves to the next level.
"December 25: More Eagle Honors"In a release on Christmas Day, more Eagles were honored when they were named to the 2011 All-Northwest Team and 2011 All-Area Team.Congratulations to all the Eagle players and coaches that have received special recognition for their hard work in 2011.Named to the All-Northwest Team were: Jalen Day-1st Team Defensive Back, Jalen Forrest-1st Team Linebacker, Amon Giles-1st Team Running Back and Chad Hollandsworth-1st Team Kicker. "December 20: Varsity All-County Honors Named"The All-Forsyth County Varsity Honors were announced on December 20th. Eagle players received special honors including: Jalen Day as Defensive Player of the Year and Amon Giles as Offensive Player of the Year. Other players included: Jalen Forrest 1 st, Team Linebacker, Brandon Smith,1 st Team Offensive Line, Chris Blair, 1 st Team Defensive Back , Chad Hollandsworth 2 nd , Team Kicker/Punter, Austin Richardson 2 nd Team Tight End…and again our own Todd Willert was named 2011 Coach of the Year.
"December, 2011: All-Conference Honors Named"In early December decisions were made and released for the Piedmont 4-A All-Conference. Several Eagles were named to the All-Conference roster. These Eagles included: Offensive Line: Brandon Smith, Offensive Line: Nate Fiore, Tight End: Austin Richardson, Defensive Back: Chris Blair, Defensive Back: Jalen Day, Defensive Line: Zach Price, Linebacker: Jalen Forrest, Linebacker: Ben Imbolo, Linebacker: Jarrod Coleman. Several special honors were given to Eagle players which were the 2011 Offensive Player of the Year to Amon Giles and 2011 Conference Kicker of the Year to Chad Hollandsworth. In addition our very own Todd Willert was named 2011 Coach of the Year. The All-Forsyth County JV Honors were named in early December. Eagle players that made the roster include: Bryce Simmons, 1 st Team Offensive Line, Travis Thomas, 1 st Team Defensive Back and Blake Roberts, 2 nd Team Running Back. *August 10th, 2011: Coach Red Kleinlein Receives the Rich Brenner Life Leader Award*At a luncheon held at Wake Forest Bridger Field House on August 10th, EFHS Offensive line Coach, Red Kleinlein received a special honor for his leadership. Kleinlein was nominated for the award by EF head Coach Todd Willert who, holds Coach Kleinlein with high honors for his leadership and overcoming the various obstacles he has faced. In March 2011, Seniors, Ryan Gray, Myshad Sims, Erick Smith and David Stigall all signed letters of intent to attend and play football for collegiate programs. Quarterback, Erick Smih and Offensive Lineman, Myshad Sims will both be attending Dean College in Massachutsettes. Offensive Lineman, Ryan Gray, will be attending Bridgewater College and David Stigall, also an Offensive Lineman will be joining the team at Averette University, both in Virginia. The Eagle Family congratulates these young men on their accomplishments and wishes each of the student athletes continued success both on and off the field.
*December 6th, 2010*On December 6th, the Touchdown Club sponsored a banquet to honor the gaduating Seniors, at the Morris Chapel Fellowship Hall in Walkertown. Players, coaches, and guest were honored to hear speaker, Perry Hudspeth, collegiate football official. Players, Medical Assistants, and Coachs were each given pictures to memorialize their work this season and over the past several years. Congratulations to all of the graduating seniors and best of luck in the future.*December 5th, 2010*The 2010 Varsity Awards Ceremony and Season Recognition was held in the EFHS Auditorium on Sunday, December 5th at 5PM. A season high light film was shown and thank you's were expressed to many important individuals including Les Grey, Charlie Hilton and Diane Smith for their work with the Football Program and the Touchdown Club. Over several weeks their efforts raised over $1500 allowing EFHS football program to send not 1 but 3 WWII Veterans on this trip of a lifetime. Veterans departed the PTI airport early on the morning of April 17th and returned home to a welcome of family, friends and supporters, including a dozen or more players from the Fighting Eagle football team. Thank you to all those that contributed and participated in this very worthwhile cause, but most of all Thank you to all of our war veterans for the sacrafices they have made in defense of country and freedom.*April 10th, 2010: Flight of Honor Meet and Greet*8 Members of the EFHS Eagle Football team participated in the Flight of Honor Meet and Greet held at the First Christian Church in Kernersville. Players had the opportunity to meet WWII Veterans. On 2nd Team Defense, Jalen Forrest at Linebacker and Robert Ginyard at Defensive Back. TJ Morrison was named Conference Punter of the Year.*Eagles to compete in Round 1 of the 4AA Playoffs*With Friday's (November 6th) victory over Glenn, the Eagles have landed a 2nd place finish in the Piedmont-Triad 4A Conference and a berth in the 4AA State Playoffs. The Eagles end the season with a 6-5 record overall with 4 of their losses by 7 points or less. *Eagles Spreading Their Wings for Flight of Honor*The East Forsyth Fighting Eagle Football teams, Coaches and Sports Medicine Staff will be collecting funds in order to sponsor two WWII veterans for the Spring 2010 Flight of Honor. Flight of Honor is a Nework that arranges for WWII veterans to travel to and visit the WWII Memorial in Washington, DC. Each player, coach, and medical assistant is being asked to contribute $5.00 to honors these living hero's of freedom. If you would like to help contribute to the Flight of Honor on behalf of the East Forsyth Football family please contact Diane Smith or drop off a check made payable to the EFHS TD Club in the Main Office on the EFHS campus. 19th:Running back, Christian Smith signs to West Virginia Wesleyan.February, 2009*Coach Doug Lakis Retires* After 30 years of coaching football, Doug Lakis is retiring from his work on the field. Lakis has worked the past 7 years with head coach Todd Willert, who had this to say in regards to Lakis's retirement, "Lakis is going to be missed in many ways. He is a great coach and person and we all wish him the best of luck with the B-Ball program." Lakis leaves his post, sending two of his starting offensive linemen, David Collins and Jeff Harris, off to play at the college level. Lakis will be turning his attention full-time to developing the Lady Eagles Basketball program. We wish Doug the best of luck...he will be greatly missed by the Eagle Football Family.*Martin Samek accepts Head Coaching Position*After being at East for only 1 year, Martin Samek will be moving on and making his start as a Head Coach at Greensboro Grimsley High School. Samek told the Winston-Salem Journal, "I am excited, nervous, a whole bunch of emotions go through you, I am excited, that's a good word for it." Coach Todd Willert shared this about Coach Samek, "Samek was a great addition for us this year and I am proud to have him move on to become a Head Coach. He deserves a shot."
