    Thoughts and Prayers from all of the Eagle football team and coaches past and present go out to the family and friends of former Eagle player Cameron Girffin who passed away on February 5th.  His passing is a tragic one and he will be missed by all.  Cameron was an outstanding young man and a great contributor to the Eagle Football Program during his years at East.
    Eagle Alumni now Ragin' Cajun, Ian Thompson plays in the
    R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
    Almuni Ian "Red" Thompson took the field on Saturday, December 17th with the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns for the schools first bowl appearance in 41 years.  The game, a last second nail biter came down to a field goal from 50 yards which took to the Cajuns to a 32-30 win over the San Diego State Aztecs.

    Alumni Flying High in the 2011 Season
    Eagle Alumni are tearing it up on the gridiron this season.  Multiple schools are reaping the benefits of former Eagles on the field.  2009 Alumni, David Collins, Ian Thompson, Christian Smith, CJ Wilson, and 2011 graduate Chase Kellum and 2010 grduate TJ Morrison have all played in various games with opponents such as Virginia, Kent State, Wake Forest and Mars Hill.  CJ Wilson(Brevard) had an interception and 6 tackles against Mars Hill and Christian Smith(West Va. Weslyan) completed for a touchdown.  Chase Kellum(Catawba) has 7 catches and 92 yards on the season thus far and TJ Morrison has an average 39.1 yard punt with 4 punts inside the 20.

    O'Brien Named a Freshman All-American


    First-year quarterback threw for 2,438 yards in 2010




     Danny O'Brien was named to 10th annual Freshman All-America Team Monday by Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) at its awards breakfast.

    O'Brien ended the year with 2,438 passing yards which is seventh in ACC history among freshmen and 10th on the Maryland single-season list. His 22 TD passes are second on the Terrapin single-season chart.

    He was also voted the top rookie in the Atlantic Coast Conference by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA).


    *Danny O'Brien Named ACC Rookie of the Year & Offensive Rookie*
    In annoucements made on November 30th, EFHS Alumni, Danny O'Brien was named the ACC 2010 Rookie of the Year.  As a reshirt Freshman O'Brien racked up 21 touchown passes and 2,257 throwing yards this season, the 6th best total by a Freshman in the ACC.  Congratulations to Danny on all of his accomplishments this season.

    *Jeff Harris Makes First Collegiate Start*
    Class of 2009 East Forsyth standout offensive lineman, Jeff Harris, #71, earned his first collegiate start against nationally ranked Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia on November 6th.  Still wearing #71, the 6-2, 290 lb. Harris, played right guard for all 71 offensive plays in the match-up with the 12th ranked Flames.  Harris, a red-shirt freshman is in his 2nd year with the Gardner-Webb University Running Bulldogs of the Big South Conference who play in the Football Championship Series (FCS).

    2009 EFHS graduate, Danny O'Brien is working hard and making a name for himself as the quarterback of the Maryland Terrapins.  As of October 30th Danny's stats on the season read as follows:

     *EFHS Graduate Signs with Bengals*
    2005 EFHS graduate Gabriel Manns signed a free agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals.  Manns was a tackle on the offensive line during his time at East Forsyth.  Manns has been attending NC-Central University where he has earned two CIAA Championships (2005 & 2006).  Manns recently returned to East to visit with coaches and team members to discuss his accomplisments and share advice and experiences.  Congraulations and Best of Luck to Gabe.
