Test scores are 1, 2, 3, and 4. Passing scores are 3 and 4. Students that do not pass either Reading or Math, or both, will be tutored during the school day and retested before the end of the school year.
How can I help my child prepare for the test?
*Continue to help your child with their test prep homework in both Reading and Math. Encourage them to use both testing strategies: RUNNERS for
the Reading and finding keywords and showing work in Math.
*Make sure your child is not staying up late the night before the test. They need plenty of rest and a good night's sleep.
*Students also need a good, nutritious breakfast that will stay with them through the morning. We will not have our snack at regular time on testing days. It will be much later, as testing is about 2-2 1/2 hours each day.
*Make sure your child arrives on time. We will begin at 8:20 each morning and students arriving after that time will not be allowed to take that day's test. They will have to take a make-up test at a later time.
*Encourage, encourage, encourage! Students need confidence in their abilities. Do not put too much pressure on them, as they do get quite nervous, but do encourage them to take the test seriously and realize the importance of the test. Encourage them to listen and follow oral directions very carefully, to use the testing strategies and take their time, and to check over their work and answer sheet!
