    Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS)

    Mission Statement

The mission of PBIS is to promote school unity through the reinforcement of positive behavior and to contribute to safe learning by building citizenship and good character.

PBIS emphasizes school-wide systems of support that include proactive strategies for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate student behavior to create a positive school environment. Attention is focused on turning problem behaviors into desired behaviors.

Our goal is to make Forest Park Elementary School safer, more enjoyable and productive. The design of PBIS is based upon data collected from school discipline records and student/teacher survey results. Our program is designed to teach appropriate behavior expectations as effectively as we teach academic skills.

    Core Values

Our core values are posted throughout the school and include expected behavior of everyone within the school, including students, teachers, parents and visitors. Students earn positive rewards such as Panther Cash and Panther Class Merits for exhibiting expected behaviors.

    These rewards should:

    • Increase the likelihood that desired behaviors will be repeated.

    • Foster a positive school climate.

    • Reduce the need for time-consuming discipline measures.
