Brunson uses science, technology, engineering and mathematics to prepare students for the 21st century. Students are challenged to evaluate real-worldproblems and potential solutions through lessons that are project based.The school uses Engineering Is Elementary®, a nationwide curriculum that promotes K-12 STEM learning while connecting those subjects to literacy and social studies.Brunson students apply the five steps of the design process to ask, imagine, plan, create and improve. Exposure to the design process increases their awareness of scientific and technical careers.Brunson delivers a rigorous academic program that will significantly increase student achievement in all academic areas to ensure that students are prepared for middle school and well beyond. The magnet program will begin with kindergarten for the 2011-12 school year and includes a transitional bilingual program (applicable for native Spanish speakers).Directions to BrunsonFrom Business I-40 west take Hawthorne/First St. exit, turn left at light. Go one block; turn right. Entrance is 1/2 block on right. Or from Business I-40 east, take Cloverdale exit, turn left at bottom of ramp. Continue on Cloverdale through light, turn right on Hawthorne Rd., then left into school. Office is on left.
