    Course Descriptions
    1st Semester
    Digital Media:
     
    In the beginning, students explore graphic communication, audio & video production, animation tools, and webpage design utilizing Microsoft & Open Source programs. As their skills develop, students are introduced to Adobe Creative Suite programs: Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, and Premiere Pro. Emphasis is placed on studying application of digital media elements in the Web environment.  DM students create a web design highlighting the elements of digital media.
     
     
    2nd Semester
     
    Advanced Digital Media:
     
    Students concentrate on A/V production with graphics, animation, and web design as support elements. Students continue working with Adobe programs and are introduced to additional professional programs & products, techniques, and hardware for further exploration.  Emphasis is placed on studying application of digital media elements as they apply to working with clients and in the Film and TV industries. Adv DM students create a personal digital portfolio as a final project.
     
     
    3rd Semester
    Adobe Video Design
    This course is a project-based course that develops skills in video design and production using Adobe tools.  Students develop these key skills in a spiral – each project adds more challenging skills onto foundation proficiencies.  Students engage in skills to learn storytelling, capturing and editing video and audio, and finalizing content for DVD, web, or digital videotape. This course uses the Adobe curriculum and is aligned to Adobe Premiere certification.
     
    4th Semester
    CTE Advanced Studies

    This course is the 2nd semester course for students who have completed Adobe Digital Video.  The Advanced Studies course prepares students for success in transitioning to post-secondary education and future careers. The four parts of the course include writing a research paper, producing a product, developing a portfolio, and delivering a presentation.  Students demonstrate their ability to use 21st century skills.  Competitive events, community service, and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences.
