The 1,000 point grading system is based on points earned for work done. Each semester, students have the opportunity to earn up to 1,000 points.  The End of Course test is worth 200 pts. which reflects the fact that it is 20% of the final grade.

Opportunities for earning points each quarter:

    Participation ..........................  90
    Plus Points............................... 44
                Quizzes................................... 133
    Projects................................... 133
                                                                                                   400

    1st quarter grade (400) + 2nd quarter grade (400) + Exam 2x% score (200) = 1,000 points

Participation points are assigned on a weekly basis. Students earn 0,1,or 2 points a day based on their level of contribution to the positive learning environment of the classroom. Honoring the rules of respect, contributing to group projects, and completing individual assignments help earn the maximum number of points. Disruptive behavior, being late, and/or noncompliance with directions result in failure to earn points.

Students do not receive participation points for days they are absent.
With an excused absence, they must use the recovery credit system to earn their participation points.

Plus points are a way to reward students for going beyond the minimum requirements. They may be earned from classroom presentations, outside research, exploring personal interest in a variety of multimedia areas, or giving extra effort in the classroom.
Students must demonstrate initiative to earn Performance Points.
Points in this catagory are awarded each week and do factor into the final grade.

Recovery credits are an opportunity for students to make up for points missed due to an excused absences, an incomplete project, or sub-par quiz. They may not be used to replace points unearned because of an unexcused absence or lost because of disruptive classroom behavior.
