What to Expect in Third Quarter
It is hard to believe we are in the third quarter already! Here is what we will be doing over the next 9 weeks.
Students will be expected to follow rules and procedures of the classroom, be responsible for completing classwork and homework, turn in assignments on time, and make positive behavior choices. During the first and 2nd quarter, I gave several chances as students were learning the expectations. Consequences for actions will now be implemented more swiftly.
We will continue with learning new reading strategies while we read realistic and historical fiction and a biography. We will also learn about cause and effect as well as review other comprehension skills.
Math - We will learn metric mass and volume, area, how multiplication and division are related, and how to compare fractions. Students should also become more fluent in the use of their multiplication facts!
Writing - We will learn more about informational writing (non-fiction writing).
Social Studies - We will learn about changes in communities of the past until today.
Science - We will learn about the states of matter, forces in motion, and the conservation and transfer of energy.
All students will be required to take the End of Quarter Test for Reading and Math.
As you can see, we will be extremely busy this quarter! If you should have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me!
If you should have any questions, feel free to send me an e-mail and I will respond ASAP.
As always, thank you for sharing your children with me!
