Course Introduction Civics and Economics

  • Welcome to Civics and Economics at Mount Tabor High School. The content of this class focuses on the economic, legal and political systems in the United States. Being an active participant in the economic, legal and political process is an essential ingredient for the success of any democratic form of government. Throughout the duration of this course students will be introduced to the foundations of American economic, legal and political thought, how those beginnings have transformed into the institutions they are today and how they can become a participant in what they evolve into tomorrow.
"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." President Barack Obama
Change is inevitable, what is in question is whether that change will be positive or negative. In a democracy it is believed that only through the participation of the populace is that change going to reach its greatest universal benefit.
