Hi!  I am Mrs. Hurst and I am excited about meeting you this year!
This will be my 23rd year of teaching.  I graduated from Piedmont Baptist College in 1992 and then went on to Appalachian University to complete my Master's Degree in Elementary Education in 1995.   I taught in Davidson County for 8 years (3rd and 4th grade and Reading Recovery) and then took a few years off while my children were young.  I went back teaching part time at Meadowlark Elementary and taught Kindergarten for one year and first grade for eight years.  In the fall of 2011 I was fortunate enough to be hired as a teacher here at Whitaker. I taught third grade for three years and moved to fourth and then back to third.   I am proud to be a part of such an amazing school!
I am married to Steve Hurst who is a building contractor.  We have two children, Austin and Abby.  Austin will be a sophmore this year at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.  He is working on a degree in music with a focus on worship leadership.  My daughter Abby is a rising junior at Calvary Baptist Day School.  In my free time, I love working in the yard, playing with my dog Maddie, scrapbooking and making crafts, playing the piano, and playing basketball.  I am looking forward to a wonderful year.
