Imagine the Possibilities!
What could Hanes Magnet School do if the PTSA were fully funded?
Last year Hanes was the only Project Lead the Way Distinguished School in the Triad. To continue to be a leader in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education, our school needs funding beyond that provided by the state and district. The BEST WAY TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR SCHOOL is to become a HANES HERO today!
Where does my donation go?
Because we don’t partner with an outside fundraising organization, all the money you donate goes to the school. Hanes PTSA is a nonprofit organization, so your donation is tax deductible.
“If we had a 1 to 1 ratio of Chromebooks to students, we could reduce the need to generate worksheets.”
- Patricia Prevette, 6th Grade Math Teacher
How does the PTSA spend the money they raise?
All the money that PTSA brings in from box tops, corporate partnerships, Hanes Heroes, and other sources is spent to support our students, teachers, and families.
This year the Hanes PTSA aims to fund
- Technology - Chromebooks, charging carts
- Classroom Support - Money for classroom supplies - pencils, dry erase boards, calculators, books, etc.
- Clubs - Help subsidize membership and registration fees, update equipment needs, fund coach training
- Encore Support - art supplies, sheet music, PE equipment, library materials
- STEM Enhancement Activities - Lunch and learn support, CanStruction
- Staff Enrichment - mini grants to help subsidize licensing and accreditation
- Student Recognition and Field Trip Grants
“PTSA's contribution of 3D Printer technology has brought awe and wonder into the classroom. We have used the 3D printers for sixth grade design and modeling classes as well as after school clubs including Team America Rocketry Challenge, Rocket Club, TSA and Future Cities. Students love seeing their creations come to life one layer at a time right before their eyes. As a 21st Century tool for prototyping designs, our students understanding of concept to physical product is greatly enhanced.”
- David Draper, Project Lead the Way Teacher

Who is a Hanes Hero?
Hanes Heroes are parents, grandparents, neighbors, friends, and faculty who want to see the school bridge the gap between the basic levels of magnet school funding and the needs of a cutting-edge STEM middle school. If you know of someone who may be interested in helping our school, please email their name and mailing address to one of the fundraising chairs listed below.
How to Give
Please put a check in the gold envelope. You can mail it or return it to school with your student. Volunteers will be available in the morning at the bus line and in the mornings and afternoons at the car rider line to pick up envelopes. If you would prefer to donate online, click on one of the Donate buttons at the top and bottom of the page.
Donations will be accepted at any time. However, we would appreciate as many donations as possible by September 30 so we can fully fund all of our budget lines for this year.
For more information about this year’s direct donation campaign, visit our table at Curriculum Night/Club Expo or contact one of our fundraising chairs:
