• Monthly Behavior Chart
    Each morning your child will begin the school day on the color green on our classroom behavior chart.  If a student breaks a classroom rule, they will receive a reminder of the rules.  The next time they choose to break a classroom/school rule, they will move their color to yellow and so forth.  The classroom colors on our behavior chart are as follows.
    Green = Great Day!
    Yellow = Warning
    Red = Time Out
    Blue = Send a note home to be signed
    Purple = Sent to the office and a telephone call made to parent
    Each day we will mark a behavior sheet indicating the color your child was on at the end of that day.  We ask that you initial the box for that day and keep the behavior sheet in their communication folder to be used for the entire month.
    Personal Best Chart
    We will use a "Personal Best" chart in our classroom this year.  This chart highlights the good choices students make throughout the school day.  When we notice a student go above and beyond what is asked of them, they will be able to add their name to the chart.  Each day we will pick 3 numbers from the number can.  The children that have their name written in the corresponding box on the chart will receive a small reward.  The students continue to add names to the chart throughout the week.  Every Friday afterschool we will clean the chart to prepare for another week of "Personal Best".

    Communication/Homework Folder
    Beginning in September your child will bring home their homework in their blue communication folder.  They will have math sheets and two take-home readers.  Homework should not take any longer than 15-20 minutes each night, with the majority of that time spent reading and discussing the stories your child reads.  This homework does not need to be returned until Friday morning.  We do ask that you return the communication folder with your child's behavior chart each day.  I will send home more information about the take-home readers and ways to help your child become a stronger reader.
    This year for snack we ask that each child brings in enough snacks for the entire class at the beginning of each month.  We will collect the snacks and use them throughout the month.  You only need to send in a snack one time per month.  The snack you send in can either be a large box/bag or individually wrapped.  Examples of snack could be pretzels, goldfish or crackers.  We have 23 students in our class.  If you prefer to send in an individual snack for your child daily, you may do so.
