PBIS- Positive Behavior Intervention Support for
Mineral Springs Elementary
************************************************************************************************************************************************
This year we are implementing PBIS, a school wide strategy for helping all students achieve important social and learning goals. Clear rules are established for the behavior expected in all areas of our school. For each area of the school we have routines that children will learn. For example, there is a routine for the cafeteria, playground, etc. The expectations will be taught explicitly and clearly. You will be able to ask your child, “What are the rules at the playground?”
This system is a reward based system. Classes earn class merits for positive behavior and these merits accumulate for rewards.
The motto for our school is We Have Bulldog POWER.
Positive
On-task
Wise
Encouraging
Responsible
With this new behavior model, comes a new discipline system. Each week this will include:
-a verbal warning
-1stinfraction- document the behavior
-2ndinfraction- document the behavior
-3rdinfraction- document the behavior & contact parent/guardian
-4thinfraction- document the behavior
-5thinfraction- document the behavior
-6thinfraction- document the behavior & contact parent/guardian
-7thinfraction- D1
All PBIS documentation will be kept by your child’s teacher. Weekly forms will not carry over from week to week. Each week children will be given a fresh start.
You can help us by going over the POWER motto with your child at home.
