Welcome to English II Honors. This course is based on the study of World Literature, starting with some of the earliest known epics and exploring stories, poetry, and drama from around the world. We learn about archetypal themes and symbols recurrent in literature, and how literature itself is shaped by the culture that produces it, and also helps shape that culture. We discover that, since mankind began creating stories, we have had the same types of hopes and dreams, and fears and sorrows. We learn through literature that at our core, we are all more similar than we are different, but that our differences add flavor and variety to our lives. We will increase our vocabulary and practice our grammar, and we will learn techniques to improve our writing.
I am available for extra help after school almost every day except Mondays and Thursdays. Check with me to schedule a time. I am also available most days during my planning period (3rd block).

One print source (book,magazine article, etc)
Five paragraphs (or more) –introduction, three or more body paragraphs, conclusion.
Be sure your paper is properlyformatted (see the Purdue OWL MLA guide attached to the website). It must be in Times New Roman and 12pt. You must use MLA in-text citations. We will see examples of these in the computerlab.
