Course Description:
Sixth grade science builds on the concepts and skills acquired in kindergarten through fifth grade. The concepts studied at the sixth grade level include:
1st Quarter: Forces and motions: including wave properties in energy, earthquakes, and light and sound and understanding the structure and physical properties of matter.
2nd Quarter: The structure of the Earth, how forces of nature and humans have changed the Earth, understanding the solar system.
3rd Quarter: Energy Conservation: understanding how energy is transferred
4th Quarter: Understanding the structure and behaviors of plants and living organisms that allow them reproduce and survive and the flow of energy through ecosystems
