My Services
COUNSELINGI appreciate the opportunity to provide counseling services for our students and families. I counsel children individually and in small groups. I can also meet with families on issues that may be affecting their child at school. Students may refer themselves or teachers and parents may refer students. If you feel your child or family needs more than short-term counseling, I can provide you with outside referral sources.CLASSROOM GUIDANCE"What is 'classroom guidance'? Why is it important?"Classroom guidance occurs when school counselors teach skills to help students to be their best at home, school, and on the bus. School counselors teach practical skills directed to the student's developmental level, such as: how to handle emotions; how to be responsible; how to be respectful to others; how to be a successful student; and how to resolve problems with friends and teachers, School counselors follow the counselor's North Carolina Standard Course of Study for classroom guidance.Mrs. Browder will see 3rd, 4th and 5th graders in classroom guidance this year.
CONSULTATIONIn addition, I work closely with community agencies to help children and families and coordinate services if your child changes schools. If you have a request of your school counselor, please don't hesitate to call me at 924-3434 (school telephone) or e-mail me at: kjbrowder@wsfcs.k12.nc.usCounseling Department Master Calendar: Mrs. Bottoms and Mrs. Browder
