The Downtown School PTA still needs volunteers to assist in the following areas. A brief description is included below. Please consider these volunteer opportunities, as they are a great way to meet fellow parents, as well as to enrich the lives of our children and help keep the school successful.
Spirit Wear Chairperson: This position coordinates any spirit wear sales throughout the year, such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. Time Commitment varies during peak season of sales.
Yearbook Chairperson: Coordinate Yearbook orders at the end of the school year. Work with Yearbook design chairperson to coordinate ordering and distribution. Time Commitment is approximately 8-10 hours in May.
Audit Committee: Need a chairperson and 2-3 members. The Audit committee is responsible for conducting the monthly bank statement reconciliation review and the annual financial audit of the PTA in July or August. This is a mandatory requirement to maintain our fiscal integrity and to remain a PTA in good standing in the state of NC. Time Commitment is approximately 1-2 hours once a year.
Community Advocacy Committee – Need a chairperson and 3-4 committee members. The advocacy committee is tasked with developing and cementing relationships between the school and the downtown community. By successfully partnering with local businesses and citizens, the potential to provide quality programming through their areas of expertise are of a great benefit to our children and school. Time commitment will vary depending on number of committee members.
Nominating Committee - Need a chairperson and 4-6 members, The Nominating Committee is tasked with identifying talented, motivated and responsible individuals to serve as officers for the following year. The committee shall prepare a slate of officers to be voted on at the May General meeting. Time commitment for this committee will be approximately 1 – 3 hours depending on their ability to recruit people willing to serve as PTA officers for the coming year.
