Parent Advisory CouncilFebruary 19, 20131. Dr. Martin called the meeting to order, and Aleta Bitting gave a brief welcome.2. Marty Ward, the director of research and evaluation, gave a report on the 2011-12 Tripod Survey. The survey was a pilot to see if a student survey about teachers could be integrated into a system to measure teacher effectiveness.3. Dana Wrights, the director of accountability services, gave a presentation about how common exams were used and graded at the end of the first semester.4. Wayne Foster, the Star3 project director, gave a report about the effectiveness of the Star3 program in its first year. The project is being funded by a $19.6 million federal grant to measure the impact of incentive pay on teacher and student performance.5. Theo Helm, the director of marketing and operations, gave presented several options for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 school calendars. The school board is scheduled to vote on the calendars at its Feb. 26. meeting.6. Darrell Walker, the assistant superintendent of operations, gave an update about school security.The next PAC meeting is 6 p.m. on March 19 in Room 219 of the Education Building.
