Mission

The mission of the Parkland Magnet High School Media Center is to ensure that students, faculty and staff are effective users of information and ideas, thus helping them to become independent and life-long learners. This mission is accomplished by:

• Providing both physical and virtual access to appropriate learning materials to foster intellectual growth.
• Promoting reading and media literacy
• Providing instruction in technology and information skills
• Encouraging collaboration with teachers in order to create strategies that will further enhance student learning.

The Parkland library program is governed by district, state and national standards presented in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School Board policies, the North Carolina State Department of Education’s IMPACT:  Guidelines for North Carolina Media and Technology Programs and the American Library Association’s Intellectual Freedom Statements and Policies.
