Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Heather Fisher and I have been teaching for 5 1/2 years. I taught 2 years in first grade at Walkertown Elementary and 3 years in fourth grade at Ibraham Elementary. I am now teaching Academically Gifted students at Ibraham. I received my Elementary Education degree at Wingate University in 2009. A year after I graduated from Wingate, I began the Reading Education program at Appalachian State University. After being a foundational reading teacher in first grade for a year, I realized that there were so many things about reading that I did not know. I wanted to have the ability to meet my students at their level and help them grow as readers. The Reading Program at Appalachian has taught me so much about the reading process and has given me so many strategies to teach reading. I then went back to school at Duke University to obtain my Academically and Intellectually Gifted license. I look forward to learning more and growing as a reading teacher. I hope that my students will be motivated by my love for learning and will be inspired to be life long learners.
