Medication, both prescription and over the counter, cannot be dispensed to students unless it is provided to the school by the parent in its original container and a Permission to Give Medication Form is completed by both parent and physician. Medications must remain in the main office. When a student needs to take their medication, they are to report to the main office to receive it. At the end of the school year, all medication must be picked up or it will be discarded.
Only students who have chronic health conditions may carry medication with them. It is provided to the school by the parent and an Authorization for Self Administration Form is completed by both parent and physician. Examples of these types of medications include diabetic meters and insulin, asthma inhalers, and epipens for severe allergic reactions.
