All About Your Teacher          

Welcome to your fifth grade year at KES!  My name is Mrs. Lackey and I have the privilege of working with you this year as your teacher!  I am beginning my tenth year of teaching fifth grade, my third year at KES, and my sixth year of teaching AIG.  I grew in a small North Carolina mountain town named Brevard.  After graduating from UNC Chapel Hill, my husband and I moved to Kernersville in 2000.  We have two wonderful boys who are in 7^th grade at Paisley IB Magnet and 5^th grade here at KES.  We also are fortunate to have two amusing cats named Pepper and Lily.  Our family enjoys traveling, trying new kinds of foods, being outdoors, and watching all kinds of sports - especially anything involving our beloved Tar Heels. 

          I hope that you have had both a relaxing and exciting summer.  You may not want to admit it, but I suspect you are a bit excited about returning to KES for your last year of elementary school.  Are you ready to have the best year ever?  I hope so!  My expectations for you include that you will learn more about yourself and start making goals for your future, improve your ability to attack challenging problems, read new kinds of books you haven't tried before, develop an appreciation for our nation’s rich history, and get super excited about Science!
