• Small Business Entrepreneurship

The vast majority of businesses in North Carolina and throughout the United States are Architectsmall firms.  These small businesses are a critically important factor in maintaining a productive and prosperous economy.  Advancements in computer-based technology provide new opportunities and challenges for small businesses to compete more effectively.  Yet inadequate planning and lack of knowledge of business management and operation accounts for approximately 80% of all new businesses closing before the second year of operation.

Small Business Entrepreneurship is designed to provide students with the competencies necessary to prepare them for successful business ownership.  This course includes the study of entrepreneurial characteristics, business ethics, basics of financing, marketing fundamentals, product considerations, location and layout concerns, pricing decisions, promotion strategies, and management concepts.

Skills in critical thinking are reinforced in this course along with oral and written communication skills. Simulations and projects will help develop student proficiency with the subject matter.
