The fourth graders will be doing a great deal of writing this year. This year they are required to complete 3 pieces of writing samples that will help them improve their writing in an effort to be profiecient. Their writing during each quarter will mark their progress throughout the year. They will follow a rubric for each writing assignment and be required to demonstrate their growing knowledge of organization, language and conventions.
Quarter 1: Narrative- The students will be required to write a story based on fictitious events (imaginary events).
Quarter 2: Argument/Opinion: The students will be given a prompt and they have to pursued the audience to choose their opinion based on research.
Quarter 3: Explanitory- The students will have a topic that they will be required to do research for.
