"City of the Arts" Concert Band Festival & Carowinds TripEach year the 7th & 8th grade band participate in the "City of the Arts" Band Festival which is held at West Forsyth High School (1735 Lewisville-Clemmons Rd. Clemmons, NC 27012) on a Saturday morning in the Spring of the year. The event features performances from local middle school and high school concert bands in a festival environment where bands receive written and recorded comments from a panel of distinguished music educator adjudicators. Following the performances many of the bands continue their day by traveling to Carowinds Amusement Park (300 Carowinds Blvd. Fort Mill, SC 29708) for a day of fun.The item that sets the "City of the Arts" Band Festival apart from other theme park music festivals is that the event is collaborative and supportive. All of the performing groups arrive before the first band's performance and remains until the last performance concludes. This supportive and interactive performance and evaluation environment is unlike any other theme park festival. This year's "City of the Arts" Band Festival and Carowinds Trip will take place on Saturday, May 18th. Our 7th grade and 8th grade bands will be performing in the band festival on that Saturday morning. Both band's performances are required for it's members and will be at the following times: MMS 7th Grade Band - 9:30am, MMS 8th Grade Band - 10:30am. The attire for these performances is different than that of our normal evening concerts. We will be wearing our MMS band t-shirts, shorts and athletic shoes. The color of the shorts and athletic shoes will not be specified.Meadowlark students that are planning to participate in the Carowinds portion of the event will need to complete the registration form (link located below) and turn in their trip fee of $60.00 via cash or a check made payable to "Meadowlark Middle School" on or before Friday, May 3rd.Click Here to Register for the Carowinds TripStudents that are not participating in the Carowinds portion of the event can meet us at West Forsyth High School at 8:45am and perform with their peers.
