    About Me Mrs. Marilyn Mercer

My husband and I (both teachers) share over seventy years in the field of education.  In fact, I have been teaching in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System for over thirty years.  Those thirty years have been spent at Kennedy, Reynolds, and Reagan.  In that time period, I have taught junior and freshman English, Latin I and Latin II.  Also, I have coached cheerleading, drill teams, and even track. In addition, I have sponsored Student Government, Honor Court, and National Honor Society.  My experiences in education have been many, varied, and enjoyable.  During my last ten years, I have been at Reagan teaching all freshmen and loving every minute of it. I presently sponsor the National Honor Society and am one of the two English Department chairpersons.

My husband is a former P.E. and Health teacher who spent most of his teaching years at Southwest and Philo.  He now substitutes at Reagan frequently.  We live in Dryden Park in Lewisiville, and we have two grown sons who have left us with the  "empty-nest syndrome. "    However,my family is complete with our two puggles, Max and Charlie.

In my spare time, I love recreational walking and reading and spending time at our condominium on Lake Norman.  I also enjoy attending local plays and music events.

People tell me that I will know when it is time to retire, but I just haven't felt the urge yet, probably because the students in my classes fill me up with their positive energy and zest for learning.  I look forward to another wonderful year at Reagan.

I hope to meet or to speak to each of you this year.
