• *Husky Students…..MAKING a difference!!*

Below is a list of opportunities that your child has to become involved and make a difference in the lives of others. THIS is NOT a requirement. Helping out others is just a great thing for our students to learn to do. You don’t even have to do them all, just find the one (or more) that speak to your passion.

(PLEASE feel free to let us know of other opportunities that you are aware of to add to my list)

Ø Rachel’s Challenge:  Join the KIND School Club that helps encourage a BULLY FREE school. BEING KIND TO OTHERS!! …what a great thing to do!

Ø Ronald McDonald House: Mrs. LeMay will be collecting the metal can tops for the RMH. RMH collects these and turns them in to help raise money for the house and the patients. This will be an ongoing yearly project. Easy to do!

Ø Aluminum Can Drive: The Robotics Team will run a fundraiser later in the year collecting aluminum cans. Start saving them now and crushing them! This is another big team completion. Also last year they gave out gift cards for winners of a drawing.

Ø Boxtops for Education: The PTA collects these for money to help the school. Drop off the boxtops to your homeroom teacher. Prizes are usually awarded throughout the year.

    •  (Nov ) GIVE a KID a COAT: TJMS collects new and gently used coats to donate to Salvation Army. Drop off in Homeroom. You can receive a tax donation form for doing this. It is a big school competition.

    • (Nov/Dec)STOCKINGS for SALVATION ARMY: TJMS student council usually sponsors a drive to collect items to fill for holiday stockings. Send donations of hairbrush/combs, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste/ toothbrush, stationary, wallet/purse, games and other small toys/items, gift cards to homeroom teacher. (Tax donation)

    • (Nov/Dec) Can Food Drive-Second Harvest Food Bank: Team collection of can foods and non-perishable items. Usually sponsored by Student council or NHS. BIG school competition too!

    • (Nov/Dec) WALK for WISHES at Tanglewood Festival of Lights. This walk is at night and at the Festival of Lights…PRIOR to the opening of the event in November. One of our previous students, Karsyn Bell, has a 4 year old cousin that has a walk team to raise funds for children of life threatening conditions. He himself is a recipient of Make a Wish as he is a survivor of eye cancer. If you are interested in joining his team please go to the link and join Collin’s Team: www.walkforwishestriad.kintera.org (counts for NHS/Crosby community service)

Ø (May) ALS WALK- Join Mrs. LeMay’s walk team to help raise money and awareness to help fight ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Sign up online. (see Mrs. LeMay’s webpage for details)

Ø Do you have any other causes????
