About my ESL Classes
I currently teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in both beginning and advanced level ESL classes. Please see below to find out more about each level.
Beginning classes are designed for students in the early stages of English acquisition. Students will attend ESL daily. The majority of the students in these classes are in their first, second or third year in the United States and are learning the basics of the English language. In this class we will focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing in English. I do my best to establish a positive learning environment for each student in which students feel safe to practice their new skills. In addition to basic English grammar and vocabulary, I will incorporate grade level topics from Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Math in an effort to prepare students to be successful throughout the school year.
Advanced classes are designed for students who have acquired a great deal of proficiency in English but who still require language support. Advanced students will attend ESL every other day. The primary focus of these classes centers on reading and writing development in English. As with the beginning classes, my instruction will incorporate grade level topics from Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Math in an effort to prepare students to be successful throughout their school day.
