I was born and raised in Northern California.  After college and my parents and sister moving east, I decided to move closer to my family in 1995.   Since my move, I have lived in Kentucky, Georgia, and Wisconsin.  Four years ago, my family and I moved to North Carolina to be closer to my parents in Greensboro and to get away from the dreadful cold and snow!  We spent 2 great years in Wilmington and moved to Winston 2 years ago. 

 

      I am so excited to be back teaching First Grade!  When living in Atlanta, I taught a year of Resource and Second Grade before settling into First Grade for 6 years.  In Wilmington, I was a Title I Teacher Assistant in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade.  My first year at Sherwood I was Mrs. Byerly's assistant in Kindergarten.  Last year, I taught first grade and realized I was back to my favorite grade!

 

      My daughter, Haleigh, will be a 4th grader this year at Sherwood and my son, Carson, is off to Jefferson Middle.  We have 2 spoiled dogs (children), Skipper and Mika.  Skipper is a yellow Lab and Mika is a Husky.  We also have a 21 year old cat, Beatrice.  At the end of last year, I adopted two Red Slider turtles for our classroom.  My former students have enjoyed taking turns caring for them over the summer.  Their names are Crush and Shelly.  I love animals, working in the yard planting new things, and going to the beach or the lake.
