Course Overview

    In the 21st century, we are consumers and producers of literature and media in our classes, careers, and daily lives. The purpose of English 1 is to build a foundation of literacy skills needed for success in and beyond high school. During this course students will develop their proficiencies in reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and grammar appropriate to their grade level.



    • 3-ring binder with dividers
    • Composition or spiral notebook for daily journal (to be left in classroom)
    • pencils, erasers, pens, highlighters, pencil pouch
    • loose-leaf paper (college ruled)
    • markers or colored pencils for projects (optional, but recommended)
