Degrees and Certifications:
About the Teacher: I am Betsy Pace. This is my second year at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. I am from Lexington, N.C. After living in several other places, I am happy to be back home in the Piedmont. I am married with two children, Charles and Sara. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, boating, scrapbooking, and walking my dog, Zoe. Although it is my second year at TJMS, it is my twenty-second year in the teaching profession. I have a BA degree in French and Elementary education, K-6 from Salem College. I have a MaEd in Elementary education from East Carolina University with a dual certification, working with Academically Gifted children, grades k-12. I am also certified to teach English/Language Arts, grades 6-9.
About My Class: We will use reading comprehension strategies to examine various genres of literature. I enjoy using novels to review literary elements. Students will learn narrative, problem-solution, research based, and argument writing. Grammar, punctuation, and spelling will be reviewed. I post class work and homework assignments daily on my website. My syllabus, project requirements, and other important documents can be found there as well. Hard copies of progress reports will be sent home every two weeks for students who have a "D" or "F" in accordance with the WSFCS policy.
I look forward to working with you this school year. -Mrs. Pace
