Old Richmond Elementary Media Center Policies: Students
Students may check out books as follows:
Kindergarten: 1 book
1st-2nd grade: 2 books
3rd-5th grade: 3 books
Books may be checked out for a period of 1 week with 2 renewals allowed (unless an NCCBA book). Book must be brought to the media center for renewal. If a student has an overdue book or owes for a lost book, they may not check out any materials until the books are returned or fees paid. In order to comply with the curriculum and the NCSCOS, books may no longer be traded in to cover for a lost book. The fees paid allow the library to repurchase the lost book with a library reinforced binding. Mrs. Cox may grant requests to exceed the check-out limit by student/teacher request if the student has a clear library account and expresses a need to have more items.
Students are expected to have excellent conduct while participating in media center instructional activities and events. Students are responsible for resources they check out from the media center. They may be assigned fines for damages and for lost items to cover replacement costs. Outstanding fines and overdues may keep students from participating in special extra-curricular activities in the media center (especially near the end of the year). Students are encouraged to settle library media account issues from previous schools and/or Old Richmond Elementary as quickly as possible. Students should refrain for allowing other students to borrow media center resources from them. Parents are encouraged to contact Mrs. Cox at 336-703-4287 or firstname.lastname@example.org if they need to discuss a student’s media account or make special arrangements.
