Solo & Ensemble Music Performance AdjudicationEach Spring band students from across the Northwest District of North Carolina converge on Ronald Reagan High School to participate in the Solo & Ensemble Music Performance Adjudication. This event allows students to perform prepared solos, duets, trios or small ensemble pieces for distinguished adjudicators. Participants emerge from the event with expert criticism of their performance in the form of a written evaluation, a certificate stating the rating earned and if the performance is of "Superior" quality, a medal of recognition.Meadowlark has had between fifty and one hundred solo & ensemble participants each year for the past four years and each year the students comment on how much they enjoy the event. They appreciate having the opportunity to perform a prepared piece in a nurturing and supportive environment without having to play for large audiences.Students have the opportunity to sign-up to participate in the solo & ensemble event beginning in March of each year. The band director will assist them with selecting a piece of music that is challenging, entertaining and attainable. The students work on the selection for a month or so and then perform the piece in late April. There is a $8 per person, per event cost for participation in the solo & ensemble MPA.This year's Solo & Ensemble MPA will be taking place on Saturday, April 22nd at Reagan High School.
