    Portfolio Requirements

    Portfolio must be presented as follows:

    Ø Clear cover 3-Ring binder

    Ø Full name on the outside of the Binder (front cover or spine)

    Ø Documentation must be contained in clear sheet protectors where specified (*) back to back so all documents can be viewed without removing them from the sheet protector

    Ø Table of Contents

    Ø Section dividers

    Ø Order should be in REVERSE chronological (most recent first)

    Ø ALL CONTENTS MUST BE TYPED (Blocking notes are the ONLY exception to the directive.)

    Ø Reflections should be maximum 250 words.

    Ø All typed entries should be 12 pt., Arial or Times New Roman, double spaced

    Ø Applicant should be prepared to defend their portfolio and answer any questions regarding the contents of the portfolio an evaluator may ask.

    SECTION 1: AUDITION PACKET (WHAT ARE WE GOING TO SEE/HEAR?)

    Each candidate will present two memorized contrasting monologues. Each monologue should be taken from a play, one written before 1900, the other written after 1900. For each monologue, the candidate should complete the enclosed Play/Character Analysis. One of the monologues should be dramatic and one should be comedic.  ALL monologues should be: Gender appropriate, age appropriate and school appropriate in content. 

    *Script for each of the 2 contrasting monologues. 

     

    SECTION 2: PERFORMANCE DOCUMENTATION

    Work Examples which should include but are not limited to: Show Program, show pictures, character work {character, goals, objectives, tactics, expectations, analysis, bios, interviews}, Script excerpts with blocking notes, rehearsal work and documentation, and/or an experience reflection on the production process.

     

    **OPTIONAL** Recorded performance selections.  Must be on DVD limit to 3 selections of BEST work 60-90 seconds per selection (the total disc should not exceed 5 minutes maximum time limit).

     

    SECTION 3: DESIGN AND PRODUCTION DOCUMENTATION

    Candidates are encouraged to display work from a production where they may had a design position. If any of these items have been executed in class as part of a class exercise, a candidate may included them. The object here is to show a candidate’s knowledge of aspects of Theatre not covered in the performance section of this portfolio.

    Candidates wishing to be placed into Intermediate Theatre:

    Reflections of production experiences*

    Photos of work in which student was involved*

    Prop list*

    Collage of representative props for a scene or play*

    Costume plots*

    Collage of representative costumes for a scene or play*

    Make-up designs or photos (these can be of the student for Halloween or for a show if they were involved in the design or execution of the make-up)*

    Simple set design*

    Images of student work: masks, models, etc.*

     

     

    SECTION 4: STUDENT WORK EXAMPLES

    Journals (excerpts from theatre experiences)

    Additional reflective documentation (research work, PowerPoint, Prezi)*
