We are Team Generation Z. By team, we mean, teachers, administrators, our support staff, parents, and school community. The Generation Z Lead Learners feel it is necessary to showcase our students' work, give them a chance to display it, talk about its' content as it relates to the curriculum, and for others to see the value. This years 1st and 2nd quarter parent night was termed "Winter Wonderland". Over the course of these quarters, our team completed an interdisciplinary unit themed, "Dissection". Science dissected frogs (Human Body unit), ELA dissected poetry (poetic terms and devices), math dissected word problems (using mathematical strategies), and Social Studies dissected historical texts to gain a better understanding of how historical events may have played a role in shaping governments, cultures, etc. of today. During the Winter Wonderland Parent night, hot chocolate, coffee, and an array of snacks were served as students read poetry, shared math and social studies projects, science fair projects, and much more. We also shared a video (below) of some photos we took throughout the 1st and 2nd quarters with the parents. The big plus, Generation Z teachers were able to conference and collaborate in a setting that was conducive for all involved.
