All students in the WSFCS are required to take standardized tests throughout the year. Below is a list of the required tests students will take during the year.
HS ACT - All 10th graders participate in the ACT test this Fall.
HS ACT WorkKeys- High School Seniors who are CTE completers
NAEP Testing- Select 8th graders will participate in NAEP testing in February. National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is used to provide the Nation's Report Card indicating what students know and can do in various subject areas.
WIDA Testing- Limited English Proficient students will complete this testing. The assessment evaulates speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills.
Field Testing- Throughout the year, we are often required to give field tests to help gather information about test reliability. Schools are chosen randomly to participate in these tests.
End of Grade Testing- 6th, 7th and 8th grade students take READY End of Grade tests at the end of the school year. These tests are used to determine proficiency in Reading, Math, and Science (8th grade only). 8th grade Science testing is completed online.
Final Exams- 6th, 7th and 8th grade students take Final Exams at the end of the school year. These tests are administered in Social Studies and Science.
NCFE North Carolina Final Exam- All high school students will participate in NCFE at the end of the 1st semester, and the end of the year.
NCFE North Carolina Final Exam- 8th graders taking Algebra I will participate in NCFE testing at the end of the year. This assessment helps determine receiving high school credit.
Benchmark Testing in Math, Math I, Reading, Science and Social Studies- Students take Benchmark assessments during the school year to check for student understanding of objectives. These assessments are not graded.
