    Course Description:
    This semester course provides a survey of invertebrates and vertebrates, aw well as animal taxonomy.  The focus of this course will include classification, characteristics and anatomy & physiology of sponges, jellyfish, worms, echinoderms,mollusks, arthropods, fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. This course will be rigorous with a lot of content and activities.  Some activities include animal dissections and field work (bird observations).  Please be aware that the district mandates that in order to receive credit for this course, you MUST complete several dissections on preserved specimens (examples: grasshopper, clam, starfish, sponge, worm, fish, frog, snake, rat).  If you are not willing to perform dissections on preserved specimens then you should consider another science course.
