Academically / Intellectually Gifted & Advanced Learning Programs
-
The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools offer different levels of advanced instruction to meet students' academic needs. Differentiation of instruction begins at the elementary level and continues through middle and high school. In our school system, the program for AIG students emphasizes the development of advanced academic achievement and higher level thinking and reasoning skills. The focus for AIG students is on quality, not quantity; coursework offers greater depth, sophistication and maturity. Locally developed units of study enrich and accelerate the state curriculum to provide a challenging, rigorous learning experience. Schools have flexibility in designing services that meet students' needs. The Advanced Learning department oversees the following programs: LIFT, AIG, HAG, AVID, AP and IB.
