    Weekly Announcements- 9/20/20

    No School on Friday

This weekend’s weather gave us an early taste of fall before its official start on Tuesday. I was so happy to see a group of Wolverines will doing a little shopping on Saturday.  I made me realize how much I miss seeing the faces of the students we serve at Wiley.

This is a short week of instruction with no Flex Friday due to a teacher workday. Students will not need to log on to class this Friday and most teachers will not have office hours due to their required training schedule.  Student may still use Friday to complete missed or incomplete assignments from the previous week.

I-Ready Beginning of Year Diagnostic: Students will be taking their beginning of year diagnostic tests for math on Monday.  This test will be given during X-period (starting at 8:55 each day) and continuing into the Math class this week.  This is a REQUIRED assessment and students should be logged in and be ready to work at 8:55. They will use the same directions and access they used for ELA. Students must keep their camera ON while they are testing.  Parents are also asked to refrain from giving any help so that the assessment accurately reflects what the student knows or needs to work on.  A shoutout to the 6th grade Trailblazer Team for having the highest participation during reading last week.

Parent Accounts: As we are moving into the 5th week of school, many parents have been asking about checking student grades.  Access PowerSchool Parent Portal to see posted grades and Canvas for instructional pages and assignments.  These are two SEPARATE accounts.  The Parent Portal access must be requested from the district.  Visit the Parent Portal site to log in or do an online application.    Canvas sign up requires a student code from your child's account.  Directions to set this up can also be found using this document.

Student Support CANVAS Course:  Students are encouraged to accept the invitation to add the Wiley Students Canvas Course to their dashboard.  This course will give students access to the student services/guidance department, media center, and technology help more easily.

Title 1 Parent Education Program:  This week we will host our first virtual PEP of the year. It will be held on Thursday, September 24 at 11:00 and 6:00. This session will cover all the thing you and your student need to know for remote learning if you or they are still having trouble getting the hang of it. Topics will include:  Zoom, PowerSchool and Parent Portal, CANVAS, Wiley Website, Student Email, Attendance, and Flex Friday.  Use this Zoom link to join us at one of the two sessions:
