I am an alumni of Parkland High School, my father is also a graduated from Parkland. I graduated from Guilford College, in Greensboro, NC with a BS in Biology. I love teaching and I love science. Working at Parkland has been a fun and rewarding experience and I look forward to each new year and new group of students.
I am married to a wonderful husband and together we have 4 children between the ages of 3 and 10, three boys and one girl. My house is never quiet! And my children never escape a science lesson.
Anatomy is all about the human body and how it works. Why does your heart pump without you thinking about it? Why do cells divide, why does one cell become a liver cell and the other a muscle cell? This a hands on course with as dissections, models and at least one field trip.
Earth Science encompasses astronomy, geology, oceanography and meteorology. This is a lab science course with many hands on activities; we also go outside to complete labs. Students should expect to complete vocabulary assignments, labs, projects and tests in this course. Earth Science is a graduation requirement, so it important that students come to class prepared and ready to work every day.
General Zoology is new to WSFCS schools this year, it is being taught at all of the high schools in the county. This class has several dissections which comprise most of the lab work. This is an honors and seniors only class. This class will also look at evolution, cladistics, and phyla. This is a very hands on course and I am so excited to be teaching it this year.
