Welcome! My name is Courtney Powell and I am a school psychologist intern with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools for the 2014-2015 school year. I currently serve Smith Farm Elementary as their primary school psychologist. I am supervised by Jason Levi and thankful to be a member of psychological services. My interests are in cross battery assessment, data-based decision making, and client-centered consultation. As an intern I complete psycho-educational assessments, provide consultation, and serve as a member of the instructional support team (IST).
I am open to conducting home-school conjoint consultation upon request of the teacher and parent/caregiver. Additionally, I provide mental health counseling in a group or individual setting. I strive to ensure student success academically and socially, as well as encourage and support fellow staff members. I believe that when student's feel psychologically and physically safe they can meet and exceed their goals.
Please view additional tabs to access information on evidence-based behavioral and academic interventions that can be implemented in the home and school environments. I have also included videos that I have found useful in spreading knowledge for best practice in the school setting. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the information provided on this site.
