I am very excited to teach U.S. and North Carolina history to such a wonderful group of students.
We will begin at the start of U.S. History with early North American settlement, cover the post-Civil War Reconstruction Era, post war USA and contemporary USA. While this is a history course, all social studies topics will be infused in the lessons, including geography, economics, and government. We will work on writing and reading skills as well, as both of those are skills essential to social studies. We ensure you that this course will be interesting and thought-provoking for the students.
Throughout this year, we will use a mixture of primary and secondary sources for students to study history. This may include pictures, documents, maps, articles, and textbooks.
Students will take notes, answer questions, illustrate, paste in worksheets, decorate, and complete all assignments in their interactive notebooks. By the end of the year, each student will have written their own history book! If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions on how I can better help you succeed in my class, please do not hesitate to contact me.
