• Welcome to Ms. Holmes' Webpage
    Teacher

My name is Vicky Holmes and I teach IB English III, English III, and English II,.  This is my ninth year teaching IB English III and my eleventh year teaching English at Parkland High School.  I graduated from Georgia State University with a B.A. in English and from the University of South Carolina with an M.A. in English Composition/Rhetoric and Early American Literature.  I began my teaching career at the University of South Carolina teaching English as a Second Language at the International School at USC.  From there I moved to Atlanta and again taught English to non-native English speakers at an international school.  When I moved to Winston-Salem, 16 years ago, I began teaching in the WSFCS system.  I enjoy teaching all levels of English and fortunately I get to do just that at Parkland.

How do I like teaching at Parkland?  I wouldn't want to teach anywhere else.  I love it.  So welcome to Parkland and to English with Ms. Holmes.

Here is some important information to help prepare you for class:

Under "Classroom Documents" you will find a copy of the syllabus for your class.  There you will find everything you need to know to be successful in my class.  I have all the rules and regulations, expectations, and requirements for your class.  Instead of using the calendar on this webpage, I have instructed my students to use Edmodo to keep up with all assignments.  Please let me know if you have any trouble accessing this information from home.  Otherwise, we check the calendar on a daily basis in class.  Look for other important pages that I add on as we continue together through this year.

    Let's have a great year!
