Welcome to this year's Science Fair Extravaganza! We are excited that all of our students will be learning the Scientific Method as part of their Science Class. All 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will also be learning the Scientific Process to conduct an experiment during the Science Special Class.
As part of our academic program, all 2nd-5th grade students must complete a science project that involves an experiment. They will work with their parents, classroom teacher and science teacher to identify something that they want to research or experiment on during this process. The Scientific Method involves posing a question, gathering materials and supplies, setting up the experiment, observing the experiment and collecting data (taking pictures, creating graphs, writing notes) and reporting the results on their Science Board. Oh, and most importantly, they make a Hypothesis (an educated guess) at the beginning of the project and then they check to see if their hypothesis or prediction was correct. It's a great way to learn the process and to advance our thinking.
If you have any questions, please touch base with your child's teacher or contact the school to speak with Mrs. Stacy Smith, our Science Specials Teacher, Ms. Toneika Gravely, our Instructional Facilitator or an administrator.
Science boards were purchased in bulk so students could purchase them from the office for only $2.00 to save parents time and reduce the cost.
