    Welcome to Chorus at Meadowlark Middle School

    What do we do in chorus? 

    Chorus is a performance-based music class focusing on singing. Students will learn a variety of skills based on the NC Essential Standards for music including the following:

    • Vocal Production- posture, breath support, vocal technique, diction 
    • Music Literacy- Rhythmic and Tonal Skills 
    • Cultural Context-World Languages, Text Analysis, Music Function 
    • Performance- Staging, facial expressions, honoring performers and audience members
    • Listening and Evaluation- of ourselves, our choir and other performances
    • Social Emotional Learning (SEL) - Self- Awareness, Social Awareness, Self-Management, Team Building, Self-Management as it relates to the artistic process.

     

    * Chorus accepts new students in 6th, 7th and 8th Grade!*

      • Device (Laptop, Tablet, Smart Phone)
      • Music Polo Shirt 
    • Concerts (First Presbyterian Worship Center)
