    Rising Fourth and Fifth Grades

    Pasta Engineering

Design Challenges Galore! Using the two main food groups, pasta and candy, campers will construct bridges, towers and other structures that can take the stress.

    Rocket Lab (crowd favorite)

5,4,3,2,1 - Blast Off! with this high flying exploration. Campers are the rocket scientists who will construct and launch several rockets of increasing complexity. If your camper likes fire and smoke, this is the class for them.

    Lego Robotics

Legos? Robots?! What’s not to love in this camper engineering program. Campers will construct and program lego robots to navigate a route with a multitude of challenging obstacles.

Coding and Making with BBC Micro:Bits (High Tech)

What this camp is all about! Campers will learn to code a BBC Micro:Bit processor to perform tasks their own creations can perform. Performance artworks? Sure why not! Create challenging action games? Absolutely! Robots? You bet!

    Crazy Catapults

Need to knock down the walls of the local evil castle? Campers will learn to apply physics to solve everyday problems. As an aspiring medieval engineer, campers build and test catapults in this action packed, hands on class.

Astronomy: Give Me Some Space (new)

Explore the final frontier in this action packed adventure. Do you love space? Want to complete a model of the solar system, design a prototype for protecting valuable cargo from gravity, to immerse in some cool science fiction and write about what you would do if aliens visit, or do you just want to learn all about astronautical engineering with hands-on experiments? Is you answered Yes, this this class is for you!

    Girl Power: Engineering Projects (new)

Girls Rule in Tech and Engineering careers with the right start. In this class we will launch careers with explorations in engineering using paper airplanes, roller coasters, conductive playdough, and Alka Seltzer rockets.

Videography Storyboarding: Concept to Film (crowd favorite)

We’ll bring Hollywood to our campers. In this class, we will develop electronic storyboards as an aid to shooting a creative film.

    Makers: Upcycling

True making in action. You will have to send your camper with unwanted or broken electronics or mechanics from home. They will deconstruct and use the components to make new creations from their imagination.

    Paper Masks (new)

Campers will construct an imaginary self by making their own mask. Campers will make their masks with cardstock, paints, markers, decorative papers, stickers, feathers, fur, and more. From there, they will write a story, scene or poem starring the one-of-a-kind persona they have created via their mask.

    Roller Coasters (new)

Campers will conceptualize, design and build the roller coaster of their dreams (and parent’s nightmares). They will examine conversions between kinetic and potential energy and frictional effects to design roller coasters that are completely driven by gravity. A class competition using different marbles types to represent different passenger loads determines the most innovative and successful roller coasters.

    SNAP Power (new)

Campers will be introduced to the basic properties of electricity and electronics using Snap Circuits. They will learn the fundamentals behind circuitry and how circuits are used in all of the technological devices we use today. Projects will give students an enhanced understanding of how technology works all around them.

    Game Development: Scratch Programming (new)

Does your camper love video games? Instead of playing games other people have created, this class will engage you child’s imagination to create their own digital games.

Rising Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Graders

    Balsa Engineering: Bridge Making (new)

Campers will design and construct efficient bridges that can stand up to loads and stresses. A classic engineering challenge - is your camper ready to take it on?

    SumoBots (new)

Super fun robotics competition based upon the ancient Japanese art of sumo wrestling. Two robots in a ring battle each other trying to knock their opponent out of the ring. Campers will program autonomous Arduino controlled robots to find and defeat their opponent.

    Radio Controlled Hovercraft (updated)

Over land or sea, campers will build remote controlled model hovercraft that navigate the terrain. Campers will construct and “fly” their very own model hovercraft. We will “hack” micro drones to make hover drones. Students will be able to take home the craft they make.

    Advanced Rocket Lab (crowd favorite)

Campers will guild and launch multiple rockets in this class. All participants are guaranteed to have a blast…

Videography including Virtual Reality Filming (updated)

Just how do virtual reality videos get made? Campers will find that out as they create their own 360 degree virtual reality videos. We will explore videography concepts and practice them around campus.

Girl Power: Advanced Engineering Projects (new)

Give girls a fighting chance and they will take over the world. Here we go with tech and engineering projects designed to get girls in the fight. Girls will create wearable technology, build mini bristlebot robots, and test the aerodynamics of butterfly wings.

    Astro Technology (new)

Learn about the challenges and victories of space travel throughout history. How are you going to make your contributions? Explore orbital mechanics of spaceflight with hands-on engineering. Design prototypes to help astronauts navigate in space and safely land on Earth.

    Makers: Advanced Upcycling

Do you have junk electronics or unwanted household mechanicals laying around? Send them with your camper to help clean up the garage or basement! Your camper will deconstruct and use the components to make new creations with different uses or show off their artistic expression.

Digital Video Production: Start a YouTube Channel

YouTube is the place to bring your innovative visions to life. Make vlogs, gamecasts, tutorials, and more to establish an online presence and dive into video production. Capture footage with professional equipment and use tools like Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects to enhance your project. Put your creative endeavors together into a polished channel that's sure to draw followers.

    Advanced Paper Masks (new)

Campers will construct an imaginary self by making their own mask. Campers will make their masks with cardstock, paints, markers, decorative papers, stickers, feathers, fur, and more. From there, they will write a story, scene or poem starring the one-of-a-kind persona they have created via their mask.

    Advanced Roller Coasters (new)

Campers will conceptualize, design and build the roller coaster of their dreams (and parent’s nightmares). They will examine conversions between kinetic and potential energy and frictional effects to design roller coasters that are completely driven by gravity. A class competition using different marbles types to represent different passenger loads determines the most innovative and successful roller coasters.

    Amped Up (new)

Enjoy the lights and sounds of the circuits you can create. Students will learn the properties of electricity, advanced breadboarding, logic gates. Students will also learn soldering techniques and create their own robotic circuit.

    3D Modeling and Design (new)

Campers will use an online 3D modeling software tool to create designs that they will then print on a 3D printer. We will start with research on the internet to come up with interesting ideas to design, model and print.
