Northwest Middle School    Verizon Digital Promise

In the spring of 2017, Northwest Middle School, along with two other middle schools in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, was chosen as a part of Cohort 5 to receive a Verizon Digital Promise Initiative. This transforming initiative has been providing students with technology and skills to succeed in the digital world since 2014. Currently, in the 2020-2021 school year, there are 206,000 students, 12,100 teachers, and 253 schools that are impacted by this program. The four main components of the program are Always Available Access, Professional Learning, STEM Opportunities, and Research. Each student and staff has an iPad that includes 10GB of data monthly. Our teachers are participating in professional development to support students using mobile technology. Teachers are supported so our students can continue to become life long learners, creators, and problem-solvers in a digital community.
